Major Depressive Disorder is a condition that affects millions of people each year in the United States. Unfortunately, many of these people have persistent symptoms that affect their quality of life despite treatment with medications and therapy. Their EEG often shows frontocentral slowing of the dominant alpha rhythm while the posterior rhythm remains stationary. Frontal alpha asymmetry is a promising biomarker for depression (Allen et. al 2015). We use a more personalized form of TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation), which is FDA cleared for depression.
